Scones

Is it strictly necessary for a recipe for scones to measure all ingredients in units of mass rather than volume? It's blood annoying.

I've only ever measured in volume ... mine have always turned out alright. of course, the recipes i've used have come in volume measurements.

Is the recipe European?

On theoretical grounds measuring flour by mass makes a lot of sense (not that I ever bother to do it anyway). Measuring liquid by mass just seems bizarre, though...
