A while back I made up a list of things I wanted to do while living in Chicago. I didn't get to all of them. Now I will make a similar list for Madison.

  • Spend a night or two at a B&B in the woods when there is snow on the ground.
  • Visit the Apostle Islands.
  • Visit Kickapoo Valley Reserve.
  • Visit Circle Sanctuary.
  • Bike the Military Ridge Trail to Governor Dodge State Park.
  • Make use of some of the other bike trails in Wisconsin.
  • Visit Little Norway.
  • Visit House on the Rock.
  • Avail myself of some of the cultural programs at Folklore Village.
  • Visit the University in search of the scenic drive people keep telling us about.
  • Visit Cave of the Mounds.

This list will probably be growing. Suggestions welcome as always.

    Door County is really pretty.

The Wisconsin State Fair (in Milwaukee, usually first week of August) is my absolute favorite state fair (of the 4-5 I've been to) and is well worth a trip, as is other events on Milwaukee's lake front (Summerfest for instance).

I know you're not into football (I think) but Lambeau field up in Green Bay is, well, a bit of a football fan pilgrimage :)

I'm trying to remember the name of the town - I'm thinking Hayward but I think I'm wrong - but it's on the way from Madison to the Apostle Islands (which you definitely shouldn't miss) but it has a fishing museum with is amusing and a has three-story tall Trout you can climb inside (good place to take a break from driving to the Islands).

You've been to the Circus Museum in Baraboo yet?

Yep. We went with Mary's parents while they (and we) were in Chicago. It poured down rain the entire time. At least is wasn't crowded :)

Not a must-see, but the Fireside theater was a decent dinner theater. It would make a good date if you feel like spending a little money.
