5 backpacks later, I am the proud owner of an REI Starlight backpack. It's an extended trip pack, so I'll have to be careful not to fill it too full, but it also fits... which is a great deal more than I can say for the other ones I tried on, not that I could tell the others didn't fit until I found one that did, but Josh insisted I keep on looking. I think this is a pack that could make me actually like backpacking again (since becoming old enough to carry my own stuff, I've had several bad pack experiences... that have really turned me off to the whole thing, but also enough enough good pack experiences to know that I was having bad pack issues).
Also, we recently found a new (to us) Indian restaurant that's over near the REI (15-20 minutes from home). They have a yummy (if limited) lunch buffet.
Oh, and guess what? My garden is still coming up!!!
