Flower fairy convertable purse

Yay! My new purse is done! It's got flower fairies and converts into a larger tote for when I need to carry a sweater and lunch to work, or to a smaller purse when I don't need those things!

Basic front picture--the picture really doesn't do the embroidery justice.

Under the flap we have the zipper into the main pocket, and vinyl pocks for my shuttle pass and iPod. The shuttle pass pocket is accessible from the top because I also keep my 10-ride metra passes in there, which need to get pulled out and punched every day. The iPod pocket is accessible only from the inside (since naturally I don't want anyone stealing it), but there are strategic holes such that I can plug in the headphones or charger, and control the hold button, and the clicky-wheel conveniently works through the vinyl.

Here's a picture from the side showing the back. The smaller zipper is a large flat pocket in the back where I'll keep the checkbook, my sunglasses, and other misc small/flat/fragile stuff.

When the big zipper gets opened up, the whole thing converts to a small tote bag, thus enabling me to carry my lunch and sweater to work. I could just use a tote all the time, but on the weekends I just want a small purse, and during the week I need to bring lunch, and seasonally extra clothes to stay warm at work... naturally, moving all my crap from one purse to another every week would be a pain. I used to carry two bags, but just had too many close calls leaving one or the other on the train. And keeping my purse inside a larger tote or backpack was annoying because then I had to dig around in the big bag to find my purse, and then dig around in that to find my wallet or my cell phone. Thus the convertible purse idea was born.

Front view in tote form. As you may notice, I still need to add tote handles to the tote bag part... trying to decide whether to do them in the natural brown color, or in the off-blue. Votes would be welcome.
