So, when was the last time you wanted to pay with plastic but couldn't because your credit card company wasn't accepted (but other credit cards were)? Josh and are looking to get a joint credit card (for groceries and gas to track expenses more easily). We already each have our own (me: MasterCard, him: Visa, both: Visa debit), do you think there would be any real advantage to trying to get an alternate type card, like a Discover or something for the sake of diversity and having our bases covered? I don't think I've run into a problem since I've had my MasterCard, but it's not like I use it that much or have had it that long...

I love my discover card cause i get cash back . . . but some places still don't take it, but those are few and far between!

Our two finalists are a MasterCard and a Discover, both of which have very similar cash back rewards... possibly the same cash back policy. I'm having difficulty determining which "select merchants" and "certain merchant categories" get the higher cash back rate with the Discover, while the MasterCard spelled it out a bit more clearly and may or may not cover more things.

I avoid getting new cards because then they start calling and annoying me...even when I ask to be taken off thier call list.

I've never had a MC or Visa card be not-accepted (I have one of each). Don't shop at Costco, though-- I have heard the same, that they're sort of anal about what they accept.
