It took me a really long time to figure out what all the american flags were for. Having figured it out, I think I am even more offended than I was before I knew what they were for.

Also today, I noticed a very cute printout outside Saeta's office. For those of you who haven't seen it, it is available here: http://www.democracymeansyou.com/satire/sliced/blinders.html

I'm curious as to why putting up some American flags in memory of such an event would offend you.

I'm not going to pretend to know why you find the American flags troublesome, but I will add my thoughts.

I wish there were two American flags. One for situations like 9/11 - something that represents our unity and provides comfort in times of trouble (for some definitions of "unity" and "times of trouble"), and one for being patriotic to the point of blindness. I.e., the patriot act form of patriotic - giving up your personal freedoms for "safety" and supporting anything the government says because to do otherwise would be "unpatriotic". Anything can be abused, and I think the American flag has been sorely abused.
