I've said it before and I'll say it again...
"made it" seems like such a crappy verb for describing the arrival of an anniversary in a romantic relationship--especially when it's a dating anniversary. When I say I "made it" to something, generally I do mean I am happy to be there, but I also generally mean that I didn't enjoy it along the way. "I made it to Friday at work." "I made it to 6th period even though I thought I'd die of shame because I was so unprepared for my presentation in 5th period." "I made it to the vacation spot even though my flight was cancelled."
I suppose it is none of my business if random people I don't know want to be in relationships that don't make them happy... and also none of my business if their education in the English language is lacking such that they cannot accuritely describe their feelings about their relationships.
But, yeah, there are perfectly normal and appropriate tough times in relationships: "we made it through moving", "we made it through the ex trying to break us up", "we made it through her parents getting divorced", etc. But to me saying "we made it to our Nth anniversary" is like saying "we made it through our honeymoon." (Which granted is how honeymoons end up for some people--on the first day of their honeymoon my parents got the worst sunburns of their lives, and then my mom got stung my something that made her really sick... but I think you get my point anyway...)
