My week's work is nicely (and discretely) divided up into things which are due before Quantum, and things which are due after Quantum, so I don't have to think about more than one set at a time. This seems pretty nice so far. Actually, for 18 units, I've got amazingly few homwork assignments:

Print - 2 weekly assignments (both just reading)
Fiction - 2 weekly assignments (this half, less second half)
Quantum - 2 weekly assignments, sometimes 3 (counting reading, problems, and presentations as separate)
Music - 1 weekly assignment (and it's easy!!!)
Shakespeare - 2 weekly assignments (counting the film as an assignment)
Optics Lab - occasional assignments and writeups.

Well, my weekend has mostly been pretty good. Friday I was disappointed that I didn't get to spend much time with Josh, and I was still pretty upset by the events at contra dancing. Anyway, he came in an hour after I went to bed. I pretended to be asleep for a while because I didn't want to talk to him. Eventually I gave up because I really needed a drink of water. We argued a little and talked a little. It really frustrates me how much power other people have over me, without me having any say in it. Students at contra dancing can make my muscles hurt like nobody’s business without laying a hand on me. Josh can keep me awake when I am absolutely exhausted, simply by being absent. It bugs me. I want more control over my own life and emotions and body. By the next morning I felt a lot better. Had fun making breakfast with Josh and then talking on the phone with my mom for about 2 hours. We went to Vons and got more food, then watched Rudy, then had dinner, then watched Groundhog's Day, then eat more and spent flex, then went on a walk, then came back and went to sleep. All-in-all, a good relaxing day. Today I got up early and started doing work (since I hadn't done any on Saturday). I got the Quantum and Fiction Writing reading done for the week. Also, we read a lot of Shakespeare. I still haven't done any work for Optics Lab, which is kind of bad, but certainly not the end of the world. Mostly it's been a very good weekend. The one exception is that I haven't seemed to be able to get enough hugs. I don't know why I've wanted to hug Josh so much more this weekend than normal, but I guess that's good too.

Thoughts prompted by the book for Fiction Writing )

All these thoughts prompted by that silly book for class, and my perfectly wonderful weekend has to have a bittersweet end...
