Engaged Encounter

We're signed up to go to Engaged Encounter for the weekend of March 12th and 13th (it's an all weekend thing, so no D&D for us). I'm a little worried about it because the Catholic Church is so very good at pissing me off, but supposedly it is mostly a pretty good program... with really only a small portion of the time focused on Natural Family Planning and how to balance your check book, and a lot of it on more useful things. Not that balancing a check book isn't a useful skill to learn if you don't know it already, but I've been doing it since I was like 12 years old (no, I didn't have a checking account when I was 12, my mom made me balance hers so I would learn how--and yes, she checked my work). I would have rather we did the non-religious premarital counceling, but not so much that I really wanted to spend an extra $300 on it without so much as a review from a person who had been there. Anyway, hopefully it will be good.

My husband and I do Marriage Encounter thru the UMC (united Methodist Church) We reall like it and its helped our marriage alot.

We did a confernce about 2 years ago - and we've signed up for one in the Spring. I am almost certain its done by the same groups, since I know they added Engaged Encounter.

Its spent teaching you how to communicate better. Its really well worth the time. If you have any questons eamil me.

I'll be interested to hear how the weekend goes. I'm wondering if something similar (although not Catholic related- they piss me off too much, too) might be good for Dustin and I somewhere down the road.
