Dec. 11th, 2010 04:05 pmFor those of you who didn't keep up with it, we've gone through and marked the entries about our favorite days. You can now read just the highlights (50 entries), or just the top 10.
Someday I'm going to be done with the blog from our trip. Really. Currently I'm going through entry by entry to do more proof reading and spell checking in preparation for formatting it for printing as a photo book.
It was a good experience for me going through marking the highlights and top 10. Everyone always asks what our favorite parts of the trip were. For some reason, this question always makes me think of the absolute worst parts of the trip. Getting asked that question so many times in the past 5 months leaves a bad taste in my mouth about the trip. But looking back over the blog, we were hard pressed to limit our "highlights" to only 1/3 of the entries. There were some bad days, some really bad days, but most of the days were good and a lot of them--a larger fraction than I realized before--were really exceptional.
Anyway, there are a couple more side topics I'd like to write, and there's all this text editing to do. After that, getting it formatted for a book is going to be a lot of work. Right now I'm planning to use the Blurb.com software/service to get it printed. It has a pretty flexible format and will import the blog directly. However, since all the photos on the blog are low resolution, I'm still going to have to manually replace each one. And then there's quite a bit of formatting to do too. It's a big project.
