I see

I think I understand now why Audible doesn't have all the books that I KNOW have been released on tape. They only have the ones they can get permission to sell for $10/each. I've suspected that for a while, but there is no other possible reason that they wouldn't have any of the Harry Potter books in their collection. Josh will be disappointed when he wakes up... especially as he is the one who is going to be driving every day starting probably before his turn with a library copy of the book.

Just to rehash what is on Josh's LJ...

We went to see Once Upon a Mattress tonight. It was awesome. I think I might just want to go see it again (though I doubt I have the time given that we're moving). However, I highly recommend that our Chicago friends go see it. The link to the info is in Josh's journal.

We also picked out an apartment. This was not nearly as much of an ordeal as we expected. First, Des Plaines is a cheaper area than Evanston, and second, we were willing to pay more for this new apartment than we were willing to pay for the apartment we currently live in. On Thursday I drove around near the Des Plaines Metra station and wrote down phone numbers off for rent signs. I didn't find as many as I hoped for, but I did come home with 8 numbers. Josh called them up on Friday and got info and set up appointments to see 3 of them on Saturday. On the one hand, I was a little uncomfortable with only looking at three places, but on the other hand, we knew we wanted a dish washer and a two bedroom place, and there weren't many of those. The one we are going with is the most expensive apartment we saw, but we can afford it and it is absolutely beautiful. It has a dishwasher, washer and drier in the unit, 2 bedrooms, central air, our own real thermostat for heat and AC, a nice kitchen open to the living/dining room, a nice dining area, a garbage chute, indoor parking, ground floor bike storage, and a balcony. It doesn't have a hot tub or fireplace... but I suppose if those are my biggest complaints, I have nothing to complain about. We could have shopped around for a better deal, but what can I say, it was the apartment we wanted at more or less the price we had in mind. Our application is filled out and I will drop it off on Monday morning. Hopefully everything will go well and we wont get rejected, though I see no reason why we would.

The apartment is about 1/2 mile from the Des Plaines Metra station, which means that it is like 35 minutes from down town Chicago by metra and 15 minutes by Metra to the closest Metra station to work (30 to 45 minutes to actually get to work because the shuttle leaves something to be desired). It should be about a 30 minute drive for Josh to get to Northwestern, or he can take a 45 minute bus ride from the Des Plaines Metra Station (and then probably a 15 minute walk). In my opinion, this totally beats our current situation of me driving 1 hour and Josh taking 20 minutes to get to work (wait + el + walk).

We're going to be adding some form of extra counterage/tablage/cabinatage in the near corner.
A few more pictures.

We're probably going to try to enlist help moving next weekend (or possibly the weekend after or possibly both). And since I know all the Chicago people will be making a trip up here to see "Once Upon A Mattress" anyway...
