Fiddler on the Roof
Jul. 17th, 2003 01:19 pmWatched Fiddler on the Roof last night and did more sewing. I enjoyed it mostly, but the ending didn't leave me feeling so good. I was mostly getting to like the main character and it was nice of him to let his first two daughters marry the people they wanted to, but completely disowning the third daughter?! That just left me feeling nasty. Mostly though, the movie was funny. I liked: "I know we're your chosen people, but do you think maybe sometime you could choose somebody else for a change?" That was funny.
Shane isn't here today. He went home sick while I was at the "How to get into grad school" thing. The grad school thing felt mostly useless. It's a bunch of stuff I pretty much already knew (as of last year when a class I knew well applied). Probably would have been useful stuff for Josh and I to know last year, or maybe not. As far as this woman was conserned, we'd be wasting our lives if we didn't go to grad school and we shouldn't even apply to any grad schools that are not ranked in the top 10 nationally (overall, not departmentally). That made it somewhat difficult to value the rest of her advice. I did get some sewing done though. I finished the last 3 button holes and hemmed the dress I started at the begining of the summer, so I think it's done now.
Anyhow, since Shane is gone, I guess I'll continue on what I was working on yesterday. I'd gotten stuck yesterday before leaving, but he'd given me some advice for how to continue. We'll see how far I get. Maybe I'll go home early. In fact, I probably will since I don't expect I will be able to get very far since I was stuck yesterday when I went home. Oh well. More time to get packed and do sewing, I guess.
