Laptop

I found a laptop I like it is something like $1450, but it has $450 of mail in rebates. I've been mostly convinced to pay the extra $100 for the 3 year warentee. I still have a few issues: (a) It's still a lot of money. Do I really want a laptop that much? (b) The "video card" is "shared memory" which means it is built into the mother board and uses 64MB of the computer's 512MB of memory. The sales rep said it works just great, but I'm a little skepticle. Anyone out there in LJ land know if such a thing actually works great. I'd like to be able to watch DVDs and play WC3 and stuff. (c) It's like 7lbs. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'm pretty sure I'm not willing to pay $300-$400 more for a 5lb laptop.

So yeah, any advice?

Thieves On Campus

Between 7:22pm when Josh left for choir and 7:35pm when I got back from Shakespeare, someone seems to have been in our suite. Generally I've always assumed that I didn't have anything both portable and worth stealing.

They seem to have taken:

My purse (containing my debit card, drivers license, social security card, $25 cash, $3 check which I haven't had a chance to cash yet, Josh's meal card from his sophomore year, and other random stuff.)
My backpack (containing 2 contact juggling balls, my optics lab notebook and notes (I can't tell you how much that sucks, especially 2 weeks into an experiment), most of the pens Josh gave me for my birthday, both of my sharpies, and God knows what else was in there.)
Josh's digital camera (a Christmas gift)
My reading light (a Christmas gift)
My pearl necklace (but not the earrings, also Christmas gifts)
Walkie-Talkies (the nice ones, also a Christmas gift)
