Death Chess
Sep. 29th, 2002 12:58 amOnly watched bits and pieces, of course. But it was interesting. I think the new chess set is pretty lame looking though. I still don't see why they didn't recomplete the old set with more second hand glasses. It was totally nicer looking. "Classy" looking even, perhaps. For anyone interested an unaware, this is what Dan said about it on Friday. Anyway, Dan said he thought he had a win, but he resigned because he wasn't feeling well, and his partner was already out of the running as far as taking drinks was conserned. I'm disappointed not to see him win, but glad he's not killing himself trying to do it.
But, believe it on not, that's not why I'm writing this. When Josh and I got back from the Coop and the game was almost over, Lizzie squeezed by us saying that she had to go get more alcohol because Julie wouldn't drink her water unless Lizzie was drunker than she was. Anyway, Lizzie came back with a silver can and started drinking it. I watched them for a bit. Julie looked pretty bad. Lizzie didn't appear as drunk, but I didn't want to think about her downing more alcohol if she'd had as much as Julie had had already. Josh commented after a while about how he though Julie was supposed to be drinking alcohol, or was Julie just too drunk to notice. I looked closer and indeed Lizzie was drinking root beer. When she was nearby a little bit later, we asked her about it. She told us not to tell Julie.
It's good to see people taking care of each other.
