"Spouse's/Significant Other's name, if married"

How exactly can you be married to your SO and not have that person be your spouse? Actually, I didn't think it was possible to be married to your SO. I thought "Significant Other" implied somebody who is significant to you in the spouse sort of way, but who's relationship to you is something other than being married.

Alright, enough making fun off the form thingie. Who exactly should I put down for the school to contact in case of emergency? I mean, I normally put down my parents and a neighbor from home. Except I'm not sure that makes any sense. I mean, if there is an emergency and they manage to get a hold of my parent, they will be in Oregon and there wont be a darn thing they can do. Ditto for the neighbor. Perhaps I should put down Josh and Rachel as emergency contacts. I wonder what they do when the call up emergency contacts? Perhaps they will want medical history information. I guess my parents are best for that. But say if I'm in a coma and they want to find somebody to hold my hand and talk to me and try to convince me to wake up, well, Josh or Rachel would probably be more useful. Hmmm.... Then, on the other hand, there is always the assumption that there wont be an emergency and therefore it doesn't matter who I put down as my emergency contact people. My parents are already listed on the back of the form. I wonder if they are smart enough to notify my parents if there is an emergency even if I don't list them?

Then again, I could just loose my pensil.
