I was going to sit down to a nice relaxing snack of yogurt right about now. But somebody packed leftover cheese sause (as in, for pasta) in my yogurt. Sigh.

Dearest You-Know-Who-You-Are,

If you want us to help you feel less alone, please don't disable comments. It makes it difficult to be there for you, you know? And it's already hard enough seeing as I am here and you are where you are. I know I'm not so skilled at being a supportive friend, but when I cannot even comment, I can't even do the least a supportive friend should do, which is to be an active listener. Now I must speak in intentionally vague terms and avoid specifics, as I would not wish to compromise your privacy by doing otherwise.

I think that often we are not really so alone as we feel, especially when things are hard. And I think your burden is heavier than that of anyone else I know personally right now, and one you do not deserve, especially not right now. But I also know that you are one of the strongest people I know, and I know you are going to pull through this too. If you need to ask for a cyber-hug, it's okay... that's one of the many things friends are for.

Your Friend,
Mary

So normal muffin/cupcake pans cook either 6 or 12 cupcakes/muffins at once, they are a pain in the ass to clean, and they take up lots of space in the cupboards when not in use. Also, sometimes you need to buy those little paper liners.

However, as I recently discovered, now you can buy little silicone liners instead of the paper liners and re-use them. What's more, these "liners" hold their shape just fine and don't actually need to go in cupcake pans... they can instead just be set on a cookie sheet. And of course they are dishwasher safe because they are silicone, and will actually fit in the dishwasher because they are not huge muffin pans. What's more, they stack inside one another such that 12 of them take up a space only about 3 inches by 3 inches by maybe 5 inches.

Why didn't someone think of this before?

Persons thinking of buying cupcake pans should keep this in mind. Persons thinking of registering for cupcake pans should also keep this in mind.

Bunnies

Dear Lazy Web,

Look at me, asking a question about something other than coding!

My parents got two bunnies for Valentine's Day (they were abandoned at Goodwill and my mom offered to take them off their hands--she has a friend who works there). They've been feeding them carrots for the past 2 weeks, but are wondering what they should feed them (to be healthy and stuff). I figured some of you would know.

Are any of my friends from home NOT getting married this year? It's not even March, and already we have received invites or save-the-date cards for 4 weddings...

Two of the Oregon weddings are inconveniently 3 weeks apart... I'd like to make it to all of them, but can you ask for worse timing than that? (Not that they know each other or anything.)

I am truly impressed at what a bad job Microsoft did with the new version of Exploder. It looks good on the surface, but performance? You've got to be kidding. It's like we're back to the good old days of classic Microsoft software performance. I wonder if it's still possible to switch back to the old version...

Headphones

The guy behind me on the train today had his music in his headphones turned up so loud I think everyone in the car could probably hear it... and, get this, he was SNORING! Can you believe it?

Mmm...

If you would like to match with the wedding colors, the colors chosen by the bride are the following: blue-green aka teal, pale white-pink, and accents of plum. If you would like to blend in with the wedding theme, it is Victorian, Irish, Fairy.

Now does this sound like an excuse for some serious dress-up fun, or what? :-)

Anyone know if there is a website where you can get statistics on flight on-timeliness by airline and airport? I've pretty much had it with flying through O'Hare (which is, not surprisingly, the worst airport in the nation for on-time arrivals and departures, at less than 60% for each), but I don't know if the problem is more with the airport, or more with United. I mean, I know I'd rather fly Southwest through Midway than United through O'Hare, even though Midway is an hour or more further away, because my experience is that Southwest flights to and from Midway generally leave more or less on time, while United flights to and from O'Hare generally leave 1-2 hours late, if they decide to go at all. But what about Alaska Airlines flights through O'Hare? Alaska was such a kick-ass airline when I used them between Portland and Ontario...

Um... I think something exciting is going on in the Superbowl... judging from what I hear coming through the walls...

Cold

I do not like that it is so cold out. According to weather.com, right now it is 0 degrees out (F) and feels like -19. The high tomorrow is supposed to be 4 degrees. I am sick of being stuck inside. It's not supposed to get above freezing for over a week. A person could die in weather like this. Pretty quick too, I'm guessing.

I'm ready for winter to be over. Any day now would be just fine.

Summer is getting married in Portland next summer! :-)

Not that anyone here knows who Summer is, but she was my "twin sister" when we were little. Because we looked just the same... except that she was prettier.

Unfortunately, she's like getting married 1 week before our lease is up and we don't really plan to stay in this apartment... that could be rather inconvenient. Hmmm... hopefully we can make it out there anyhow. Although I suppose that if we are moving out to Oregon, it will just mean quitting jobs and whatnot a couple weeks earlier.

On my walk to the train station today, I saw a squirrel try to cross Northwest Highway. It just made it past the first two cars, and then was squished by a car going the other way, and I saw it struggle on the pavement for a minute. I've seen squirrels along the side of the road before, but I've never seen one get hit before. I don't think the driver even knew he'd hit it. It looked like a very painful death, and not particularly quick. It made me very sad.

Do I look like I want to restart my computer now? No. Of course not. You see, I unhibernated my computer because I want to compute. And I got here first. You can restart when I am finished.

Blood and bloody ashes! Do you need me to box your ears?

1. Today is my birthday.

2. Today is somebody else's birthday at work too, and we both brought donuts. There are too many donuts. I do not think I will need to eat lunch today... or even want to.

3. I am wearing my zip offs to work for the first time today. It is not warm enough to justify wearing zip offs to work, but I want to see how they do. So far they do good, but I think I may end of modifying the crotch in future versions... not that it really needs it but it might be improved.

4. I'm going to some second hand stores with my parents tonight... we are going to see about buying a cabinet, since my parents have a van and could get such a thing back to our apartment right now.

5. Work is going well right now. I am doing a good job and it shows. Yay. Go me. It's my birthday. Um, yeah... it is.

6. That's all for now.

Except that the update button says "Update Captain's Log"... and here I am not knowing what Star Date it is.

I don't know if anyone on my friends page knows anything about RoboCup, but it's a competition where robot (or computer bots) play soccer against each other. Teams at universities build and/or program soccer teams to enter. I think this is really cool, and I was very disappointed to get to Mudd and discover that Mudd does not participate in this.

But anyhow, that's not what I'm posting about, exactly. I think there should be BridgeBot tournaments, in which the goal is to write the best Bridge Bot (bidding convention, bidding algorithm, and play algorithms), and then play them against each other in tournaments. I think that would be totally awesome.
